PERSONAL — Born Edward Joseph Pleasant on Dec. 17, 1988 in Compton, Calif. Parents: Ed Pleasant and Janice Starks. Family: One brother, one sister. High School (Coach): Kennedy (Mitch Olson), 2007. Major: Undeclared. Redshirt: 2007.

2009 — Made a career-high nine tackles and recovered a fumble at Boise State, before adding six stops (5 unassisted) against Washington . . . Picked off his first collegiate interception vs. Utah, returning it 17 yards . . . Team's sixth-leading tackler (43) added 4 stops opposing Washington State and leads Oregon with three fumble recoveries (tying for 11th in the country) . . . His latest turnover resulted in team's lone offensive touchdown in win at UCLA . . . Played less than full strength at Stanford, yet still credited with five stops in a reserve role . . . Added one pass breakup and two quarterback hurries to his six tackles vs. Arizona State . . . String of consecutive games credited with at least one TFL snapped at three appearances, including a quarterback sack against the Cardinal.

2008 —
Top reserve linebacker was also a key contributor on special teams, making five  of his 16 tackles on kickoffs and one on punt coverage …  Averaged more than 32 plays per game over his 12 appearances … Made a season-high four stops (3 solo) and broke up two passes vs. UCLA … Also had multiple tackles vs. Washington, Utah State and Stanford, and at Arizona State … Forced a fumble on the opening kickoff in the win over the Cardinal … Clocked as the program’s fastest linebacker (4.72 electronic 40) while equaling the position’s top squat (445 lbs.), its second-best power clean (297 lbs.) and second-best bench press (355 lbs).

2007 — Very impressive first year in the program, earning scout team weekly honors leading up to wins at Stanford (defense) and vs. Washington State (offense) … Provided emergency depth and quality reps at running back when the position became depleted with injuries.

HIGH SCHOOL — A three-star prospect according to both Rivals.com and Scout.com, he received all-Orange Country player of the year, all-state and defensive player of the year accolades … Finished 2006 second in the Empire League in scoring (122 points) and third in rushing (1,356 yards), tallying 18 of his touchdowns on the ground in addition to catching 20 passes for 247 yards and two more scores … Rushed for 100 yards or more in six of 11 games, including 218 and 205 yards in consecutive appearances vs. Savanna and Canyon … Scored all four TDs in a season-ending Southern Section playoff win over Anaheim (29-10) … Defensively, tallied 57 tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks, one interception and one blocked field goal as a prep senior, including 13 tackles vs. Downey, for the 10-4 Fighting Irish … Coached by former Oregon linebacker Garrett Sabol (1997-2000).
