OREGON — Possesses all the physical tools to become one of the program’s best at his craft in recent years, with coaches anxiously awaiting for him to take the next step. Enjoyed a solid spring in his first extended stint with the No. 1 defense, exhibiting tremendous ability to read offenses and utilize his quickness to anticipate what is about to unfold. Has continually been plagued by nagging injuries that have hampered his consistency, which should resolve itself with added maturity. Has gained a comprehension of the defense and benefits from the experience as one of the team’s few battle-tested veteran linebackers. Needs to continue his hard work through the summer in order to take his play to the next level on the opening day of fall camp. Equaled the second-best power clean (297 lbs.) among the team’s linebackers in addition to leading the way with a 29-inch vertical jump. Finished the spring with three tackles in the final scrimmage, in addition to breaking up one pass.

2007 — Injuries and added maturity elevated him to one of the team’s top reserve linebackers as well as a special teams mainstay. Stepped onto the field for all 13 games, including his debut in the starting lineup at UCLA which resulted in him being named Oregon’s co-defensive player of the week. Equalled a career-best with three tackles against the Bruins, including 0.5 sacks. Totaled a pair of tackles for loss in each of the final two games and had a career-high three solo stops to go with a sack in the Sun Bowl vs. South Florida. Took part in a career-high 46 snaps vs. Oregon State.

2006
— Provided biggest contribution on special teams, where he recorded four of seven tackles on team’s kick coverage units. Was Ducks’ co-leader with three special teams stops at Washington State. Stepped onto the field in 12 of 13 games, taking part in 22 plays vs. Portland State as well as 12 snaps against California, Arizona and Oregon State. Cited as scout team’s defensive player of the week for aiding preparations in consecutive weeks leading into the Fresno State and Oklahoma wins.

2005
— Cited as scout team’s defensive player of the week for aiding preparations in wins at Arizona and Washington State as a redshirt freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL
— Despite his impeccable credentials, the most impressive aspect about the all-South Bay/Westside Region linebacker and L.A. Times regional back of the year was his instincts always found him around the football. The Gauchos built their defense around the fourth-best safety in the state who was rated 49th overall among California’s prep prospects. Garnered 133 tackles his senior season while adding 30 tackles for loss, four quarterback sacks and returned one of his four fumble recoveries for a touchdown.
