Bye Bye Byrd
Monday, January 19, 10:30 a.m. PT
Byrd's final game as a Duck was a memorable one as he earned defensive MVP honors in Oregon's Holiday Bowl victory over then-No. 13 Oklahoma State. In that game, Byrd intercepted his 17th pass as a collegian to finish his career one shy of George Shaw (1951-54) on the UO career list.
The first-team all-Pac-10 performer won't be easily replaced, but the Ducks do have depth in the secondary heading into the 2009 season. Willie Glasper, a senior-to-be, is a 39-game veteran, and junior-to-be Talmadge Jackson III has also appeared in every game Oregon has played since arriving on campus. Both players have one start apiece on their resumes.
