EUGENE, Ore. - The University Oregon men's basketball team opened up the 2009-10 season in a big way on Friday night, as Teondre Williams scored 19 points in leading the Ducks to a 94-43 victory at McArthur Court in Eugene. Nine Oregon players scored at least six points Friday night, while nobody on the team played more than 21 minutes in the game, as the Ducks won their first of three games in the BTI Tip-Off Tournament.

Sophomore guard Garrett Sim was the only other Duck to score in double-figures, tallying 13 points in 20 minutes of action. Sim went 3-of-4 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.

Sophomore center Michael Dunigan and freshman forward Jamil Wilson led UO with six rebounds apiece. Sophomore guard Malcolm Armstead and freshman forward E.J. Singler both had four assists to lead the Ducks.

After falling behind 7-3 to WSSU with 15:26 remaining in the first half, the Ducks ran-off 27 unanswered points to take a 30-7 lead with 7:58 left in the stanza. Oregon out-scored the Rams, 26-8, to close the half with a 56-15 advantage.

Williams scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the first half, playing 12 minutes after coming off the bench. Sim also came off the bench to score in double-figures in the first half, hitting for 10 points in 10 minutes of action.

Oregon extended its lead to 52 points, 70-18, at the 12:41 mark after opening the second half by out-scoring Winston-Salem State, 14-3.

A layup by Armstead gave the Ducks their largest lead of the game with 12:25 in the contest, holding a 53-point edge with a score of 72-19.

WSSU lowered the deficit to 42 points, 83-41, with just under five minutes remaining. The Ducks closed the game with an 11-2 run for the 51-point victory.

Oregon shot 50.8 percent from the field in the win, hitting 32-of-63 field goals (8-of-23 on 3-pointers, 34.8 percent). The Ducks hit 22-of-33 from the free throw line for 66.7 percent.

Winston-Salem State was limited to 20.8 percent shooting, hitting 10-of-48 from the field (6-of-19 on 3-pointers, 31.6 percent). The Rams made 17 of their 31 free throw attempts for 54.8 percent.

Oregon (1-0) returns to action Saturday at 2 p.m. (PST) with a game against UC Davis, which lost 91-73 to Colorado State in the first game of the BTI Tip-Off Tournament at McArthur Court. CSU will battle Winston-Salem State at 4:15 p.m. in the second game on Saturday.
