A Day At The San Francisco Airport
Wednesday, Feb. 4

Do you ever wonder what happens when the Ducks take the road?

Wonder what happens in airports during layovers? What sort of trouble do the Ducks get themselves into?

Well the following is an inside look at what happened during our venture to Tempe today for Thursday night’s game at Arizona State. Don’t forget, tip is set for 5:30 p.m. PST, and will be aired live on KSCR 1320 AM and the O-Zone.

As usual a philosophical debate started at dinner between the foreigners and the Americans at the San Francisco Airport.

What was in question, the lyrics to Old MacDonald Had a Farm. The Aussies and Kiwi believe the lyrics should say:

Old MacDonald had a farm
Ee i ee i o
And on THAT farm he had some chicks....

The Americans believe the rendition should go like this:

Old MacDonald had a farm
Ee i ee i o
And on HIS farm he had some chicks...

A friendly neighbor with his laptop handy helped us google for the answer, but alas we found it the Aussie way, and the American way, so the debate rages on.

Although we did poll everyone in the food court, and the overwhelming majority sided with the Americans.

After dinner it was off to the gate. As always Mic and Tay found some open space for a game of hacky sack.

It quickly turned into a game of hacky-sack baseball with Mic using a soda bottle as her bat and then...

...unfortunately Mic’s solo home run did the hacky in temporarily...but don’t worry, he’ll be back in action once she gets back to Eugene and her sewing kit.

So Mic was off to find a temporary replacement.

It was the only ball in the San Francisco airport, so Mic begrudgingly bought a Stanford football to continue the airport games, but as you can see, she showed her disdain.

Assistant coach Willette White even joined Mic and Tay for a little game of monkey in the middle.

While hacky sack baseball wasn’t in the cards for everyone, the rest of the team found ways to spend its spare time.

A game of spoons broke out between Ellie Manou, Cody Johnson, Cassie Boge and Velaida Harris.

Nia Jackson and Lindsey Saffold caught up on some reading.

Jasmin Holliday and Darriel Gaynor cranked the tunes.

We are now safely in Tempe, and I am not going to lie, the weather is pretty nice here. While we were in the Frisco Airport, Velaida Harris tried out some new shades just for the trip.

Feel free to comment below or email me (awenzel@uoregon.edu) with your thoughts on her new look.

The question for today’s blog is: What is/was your favorite cartoon?

The answers are below.

Sophomore forward Ellie Manou: Captain Planet because I used to have a crush on him.

Assistant Coach Velaida Harris:
Looney Tunes...I really liked the owl..when his parents were around he would sing opera, but when they were gone, he would groove to jazz and R&B

Student Manager Cody Johnson: Tom & Jerry because my I watched it with my grandpa.

Freshman forward Amanda Johnson:
After 10 minutes of careful consideration, AJ could still not pick just one favorite cartoon, and in fact, was very distraught about it.

Sophomore forward Tatianna Thomas: Hey Arnold because his head was shaped like a football.

Freshman guard Darriel Gaynor: Rugrats because I always wanted to be like Susie.

Freshman forward Jasmin Holliday: Still thinking

Sophomore guard Nia Jackson: Rugrats. I had the same imagination that they did when I was little. On a side note, Nia also gives a shoutout to Doug, which came in a close second to the ‘Rats.

Sophomore forward Ellyce Ironmonger: Finding Nemo because it is in the ocean and Australia.

Sophomore forward Nicole Canepa:
Rugrats...I watched it all the time

Sophomore guard Micaela Cocks: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...my favorite was Michelangelo.

Dir. of Operations Natasha Ruckwardt: Richie Rich because he was really rich and had the coolest toys.

Sophomore Guard Victoria Kenyon: The Fantastic Four

Athletic Trainer Tori Noda: Ducktales...Darkwing Duck was the best super hero.

Well folks, its has been a fun year so far on this blog...but for the next edition we want to here from you.
