EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon sophomore Amanda Johnson led her squad to an undefeated record of 3-0 last week, and was rewarded with her first Pac-10 Player of the Week Award for the week of Nov. 30-Dec. 6, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The Ducks’ starting forward led Oregon in scoring and rebounding last week, averaging 21.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, shooting .520 (26-of-50) from the floor and .563 (9-of-16) from three-point range. The Santa Rosa, Calif., native started the week in a big way, scoring a career-high 32 points on 13-of-18 shooting in a 95-68 win over Portland on Wednesday. Not only was Johnson’s 32-point effort a single-game season high for the Ducks, it was a season high for the Pac-10 Conference. Her game-high 11 rebounds marked her fifth double-double of the season as Johnson shot 72.2 percent from the floor and drained a career-high four three-pointers. In Friday night’s 88-61 win over Boise State, Johnson led the Ducks again in scoring with 20 points, knocking down a career-high tying four three-pointers. She fell just one rebound short of her sixth double-double with nine rebounds, while adding a game-high tying four assists and three steals. During Sunday’s 102-70 victory over Long Beach State, Johnson again fell one rebound short of a double-double with 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals. This past week Johnson led the Ducks in points (63), field goals made (26) and rebounds (29). Johnson is one of two Pac-10 players averaging a double-double, and she currently leads Oregon averaging 16.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. This is Oregon’s 34th Pac-10 Player of the Week Award, and the first for Johnson. It is the Ducks’ second honor this year, after junior Nicole Canepa was named Pac-10 Player of the Week on Nov. 23. Oregon, now off to an 8-1 start, will finish its non-conference schedule on the road at Georgia Tech (Dec. 16), Wyoming (Dec.20) and Utah (Dec. 22). The Ducks will return to Mac Court for their Pac-10 opener vs. Washington on Friday, Jan. 1, 2010.
