Oregon Soccer Announces 2010 Signees

EUGENE, Ore. -- University of Oregon head women’s soccer coach Tara Erickson announced Friday the addition of four newcomers to the program. The Ducks added transfer Lindsay Parlee, who is already enrolled and working out with the team, and await the arrival of prep players Achijah Berry, Brynne Konkel and Brittanie Sakajian who will join the squad in the fall of 2010.

“It’s a smaller class, but done purposely after the large class we brought in a year ago,” Erickson said. “We were looking to fill some specific needs with this group, and we feel like we did that. These four will complement the players we already have on the roster.”

LINDSAY PARLEE

WASHINGTON STATE: Ranks on WSU career top 10 lists in goals against average, win percentage, saves, wins, solo shutouts and minutes in goal … Earned Pac-10 All-Conference second team recognition in sophomore season … Also an Pac-10 All-Academic team selection … Made 19 starts ... Ranked on WSU single-season lists in minutes (third-1,754), wins (T-fourth-10), saves (sixth-99), goals against average (seventh-0.92), solo shutouts (T-seventh-6) ... Pacific-10 Player of the Week for Sept. 23-29 after making six saves in 1-0 win over Gonzaga and four saves in the first half of a 2-0 triumph over Idaho ... Ranked 38th nationally in save percentage at 84.6 ... Recorded a season-high 10 saves at No. 3 UCLA ... Posted a shutout in last three regular season matches ... Had four saves vs. No. 15 Texas in NCAA First Round … Appeared in one match as a freshman, playing in the second half of a shutout at Idaho.

HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Played for FC Portland Maroon and helped them to three state titles … U.S. Club Soccer national semifinalist following freshman season … Her Tualatin High soccer team won league all four seasons ... A three-time Pac-9 Keeper of the Year ... Selected first team all-state and team captain of 6A state champion as a senior.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Russell and Carol Parlee … Born Sept. 20, 1988 … Major is Human Physiology.

QUOTING COACH TARA ERICKSON: “Achijah can play a variety of defensive positions for us, even an outside mid if we ask her to. She’s an athletic, fast, composed defender. She also is a quality distributer of the ball. But defense is the mainstay of her game.”

CLUB: Helped club team, Emerald City Futbol Club, to five state championships (2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) … Team won Region IV Championship in 2006 … Earned Silver Boot Award in 2005 … Named club team MVP in 2004 and 2005.

ODP: A Region IV Camp member in 2005, 2006 and 2007 … Washington state team member in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

HIGH SCHOOL: Led Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences to state championships in 2008 and 2009 … Also won three league championships from 2007-09 … A two-time state all-star (2008, 2009) … Selected to King County 1A First Team in 2009 ... A first team league all-star all four years (2006-09) … Named league rookie of the year in 2006 … A three-sport athlete at SAAS, also competing in track and basketball … Helped relay teams to league and state championships in 2007 (4x100m, 4x400m).

BRYNNE KONKEL

QUOTING COACH TARA ERICKSON: “Brynne is a natural forward who is a tremendous goal-scorer. She has the ability create scoring opportunities for herself and for her teammates. Brynne’s a great finisher with her feet, or in the air off her head. She’s going to be an exciting part of our future.”

CLUB: Played club soccer for Boca Juniors … Team won 2007 U.S. Soccer Region G Championship and Super Y League Championship … Ranked No. 2 in the nation by gotsoccer.com in 2007 … Won the 2006 U.S. Club Soccer National Championship … Also won 2006 Pleasanton Rage College Showcase Championship.

HIGH SCHOOL: A two-time team MVP at Franklin High … A three-time All-Delta Team selection … A four-year Block F Recipient … Named River Cats Soccer Player of the Year and to the River Cats All-City Team … An Elk Grove Citizen All-Decades Team honoree … Participated in the 2009 ESPN Leaders of the Pack Spring Soccer.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Brian and Kathy Konkel … Born October 22, 1991 … Expected major is Human Physiology.

5-5 | Freshman | Midfielder | Los Angeles, Calif. (Saugus High School)

QUOTING COACH TARA ERICKSON: “Brittanie plays an attacking mid. I really like her work-rate and her skills on the ball. I think that she can play a couple of different positions for us - she is the type of kid who can play almost anywhere on the field. Her work-rate is something that set her apart from the players she competed against.”

CLUB: Played club soccer for Real So Cal, leading them to a Surf Cup championship … Also played for SCU Blazers, helping them to an appearance in a Surf Cup title game.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner for Saugus High School … An honorable mention all-league selection in 2009 … Helped lead team to the 2009 Division II CIF Championship … Also ran cross country at SHS, helping squad to a Foothill League Championship in 2008.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Scott Sakajian and Christine Schauer … Born Aug. 3, 1992.
