2-Time All-American

Following an outdoor redshirt year in 2010, returns with a season of indoor and outdoor eligibility remaining. 2009 cross country All-American is one of Oregon’s most experienced distance runners. Ran at four consecutive cross country NCAA Championships, and three straight NCAA West Regionals and Pac-10 Championships. Made a name at the national level with USA and Pan American Junior titles in the 10,000 meters, and USA Junior runner-up finishes in the 5,000 meters and cross country.

2009-10: Outdoors - Redshirt season. Competed unattached at the Oregon Preview, Oregon Relays and Oregon Twilight. Indoors - Ran both the mile and 3,000 meters. Neared PR in the mile at the Texas A&M Challenge, running 4:05.12. Came back and ran 8:10.53 in the 3,000 meters at the Husky Classic. Wrapped season by running the mile and 5,000 meters (14:24.49) at the MPSF Championships. Cross Country - Closed out his cross country career at Oregon with an All-America run that was also his best-ever finish at the NCAA Championships. After opening the season at the Bill Dellinger Invitational, posted a solid run at the Pre-National Invitational as Oregon’s No. 3 runner. His 11th-place finish in 24:05.3 (8,000 meters) helped Oregon claim the team title. Began championships season with his fourth career Pac-10 appearance. Was the Ducks’ No. 4 runner at the NCAA West Regional (32nd in 31:32.37, 10,000 meters). Helped spark Oregon to a second-place finish at the NCAA Championships with his 29th-place finish in 30:13.9 to claim his second career All-America award in four career Championships races. Season Bests: Indoors - Mile - 4:05.12, Texas A&M Challenge, College Station, Texas (1/30/10); 3,000 Meters - 8:10.53, Husky Classic, Seattle, Wash. (2/13/09); 5,000 Meters - 14:24.49, MPSF Championships, Seattle, Wash. (2/26/10).

2008-09: Limited track season saw him run three times indoors and six times outdoors. Continued to be one of Oregon’s most consistent cross country performers. Was the Ducks’ No. 4 runner at the NCAA West Regional where the team won its third straight title. Placed 14th overall in 29:28.08. Made his third career appearance at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., where he was the No. 6 runner for the 2008 national champions. Finished in the top third overall in 30:35.8. Made his season debut at the Pac-10 Championships, where he placed 23rd (24:26.71) for the three-time league champions. Season Bests: Outdoors - 1,500 Meters - 3:49.38, Oregon Preview, Eugene, Ore. (3/21/09); 5,000 Meters - 14:36.00, Stanford Invitational, Stanford, Calif. (3/27/09). Indoors - Mile - 4:09.63, Husky Classic, Seattle, Wash. (2/14/09).

2007-08: All-American in cross country. Pac-10 track championships scorer in the 10,000 and 5,000 meters. NCAA Regional qualifier in the 5,000 meters. Most outdoor races came at 5,000 meters. Won the event at the UCLA dual meet (14:10.70) to help the Ducks defeat the Bruins. Ran a personal-best 13:58.15 in the 5,000 at the Cardinal Invitational to finish sixth. Dual event scorer at the Pac-10 championships, where he finished second in his only 10,000-meter race of the season (30:18.77) and placed sixth in the 5,000 meters (14:26.25) to score 11 team points and help the Ducks win their second straight Pac-10 title. Ran sixth in the 5,000 (14:14.22) at the NCAA West Regional. In cross country, shined as one of the most reliable runners on the Pac-10, West Regional and NCAA Champion team. Was one of three runners, along with juniors Galen Rupp and Shadrack Kiptoo-Biwott, to finish on the team’s top-five in every appearance. Took 37th (30:36) in second NCAA Championships trip and was one of five All-Americans for UO. In weeks prior was an All-Pac-10 Second Team pick and 13th overall in the Pac-10 Championships (23:25), and improved to 12th in the West Regional (30:27) two weeks later. Season Bests: Outdoors - 1,500 Meters - 3:46.92 (PR), Oregon Relays, Eugene, Ore. (4/25/08); 5,000 Meters - 13:58.15 (PR), Cardinal Invitational, Stanford, Calif. (5/8/08); 10,000 Meters - 30:18.77, Pac-10 Championships, Tempe, Ariz. (5/17/08). Indoors - Mile - 4:04.82 (PR), UW Last Chance Qualifier, Seattle, Wash. (3/8/08); 3,000 Meters - 8:06.43 (PR), MPSF Championships, Seattle, Wash. (3/1/08); 5,000 Meters - 14:05.30, Husky Classic, Seattle, Wash. (2/16/08).

2006-07: Pac-10 scorer in the 10,000 meters. U.S. Junior 10,000 meter champion. Donned UO jersey for first time on track in early May and ran a 5,000 meter regional qualifier in the Oregon Twilight. Came back following week to score in the Pac-10 Championships in his 10,000 meter debut (eighth, 29:50.26), and the next day finished ninth in the 5,000. A month later in USA Outdoor Junior Championships, won the 10,000 meters the day after he finished second in the 5,000. Capped track season in early July with Pan American junior title in the 10,000 meters. Did not race indoor track as he competed in the USA and World Junior Cross Country finales. In winter of 2007, led Americans in World Junior Cross Country Championships (56th, 27:11) in Mombasa, Kenya, a month after he finished second in the USA Junior Cross Country Championships. In fall cross country slate, earned All-Region honors in the West Regional (19th), then followed with his NCAA debut. Ran on victorious Pac-10 team squad. Season Bests: Outdoors - 1,500 Meters - 3:49.80, Prefontaine Classic ‘B Section’, Eugene, Ore. (6/9/07); 5,000 Meters - 14:07.78, Oregon Twilight, Eugene, Ore. (5/5/07); 10,000 Meters - 29:50.26 (PR), Pac-10 Championships, Stanford, Calif. (5/12/07).

Prep: In Foot Locker Championships, placed fourth as a senior in 2005 and 24th as a junior in ‘04. Was the first two-time harrier of the Oregon-Washington Border Clash as a senior and junior. Placed sixth in the 2004 Foot Locker West Regional as a junior, and won the 2005 Nike Team Nationals in Portland, Ore. Won Oregon 4A state cross country titles as a senior and junior, and was 17th as a sophomore. In state track finals, won the 1,500 meters and 3,000 meters as a senior (3:55.23/8:18.35), and was second in ‘05 in the 1,500 and 3,000 (3:54.36/8:21.24), and third in the 3,000 as a freshman in ’03 (8:54.60). As a senior, led the nation in the 3,000 meters (8:18.35), and ranked top-10 in the 1,500 (second, 3:49.99) and 1,600 (10th, 4:11.02).
