The 2008 NCAA and Pac-10 decathlon champion is one of the rising stars in the sport. Just missed Oregon’s decathlon record at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, where he was the top collegian. Invaluable member of Oregon’s sprint, relay and long jump corps, in addition to the decathlon. One of only four Ducks to break 8,000 in the decathlon. As a prep, was an Oregon 4A state champion as a senior in the 400 meters and long jump and added runner-up honors in the 200 meters and long jump.

Scored a career-best 8,122 points at the U.S. Olympic Trials to finish as the highest collegian and fifth overall. That mark ranks second all-time at Oregon, just 45 points behind the record of 8,167 set by Pedro daSilva in 1992. Had Oregon’s best time in the 400 meters, an NCAA provisional 46.74, that earned him a first-place finish in the UCLA dual meet in April. Had Oregon’s best overall long jump of the outdoor season, a 25-2.5 effort in the decathlon at the NCAA Championships. Also Oregon’s top competitor in the 110 hurdles, winning the Pepsi Team Invite in 14.30. Ranked second on the squad in the 200 meters (21.39) and third in the 100 meters (10.57).
