EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon softball team (12-9) will not travel to the 2006 National Invitational Softball Tournament in Sunnyvale, Calif., this weekend due to a shortage of available pitchers.
Senior Amy Harris is expected to miss a month with Bicipital Tendinitis while freshman Elise Orange has taken an indefinite leave of absence due to personal reasons. Oregon is already with out the services of sophomore Alicia Cook, who was declared academically ineligible for winter term. Harris is hopeful to return for the start of the Pac-10 season, which opens Mar. 31 vs. Arizona State at Howe Field.
This weekend’s tournament is the Ducks’ final preseason road tournament as they open home action vs. Portland State next Weds. at Howe Field.
