AS A FRESHMAN • 2009
One of Oregon’s weekend starters, finished his season with a 2-9 record and 6.26 ERA in 82 innings pitched...began the season as the Friday starter before moving to No. 2 in the rotation for the majority of Pac-10 action...on the year, made a staff-leading 15 starts, dealing 66 strikeouts and holding batters to a .296 average...started the season extremely strong, pitching in back-to-back historical wins...in the season opener at Saint Mary’s (2/20), tossed 5 and 2/3 innings, holding the Gaels to three runs (two earned) in the Ducks 5-3 victory...in UO’s home opener, pitched a career-high eight innings of shutout baseball, holding defending national champion and 15th-ranked Fresno State to six hits, while striking out five, as Oregon went on to win 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth...helped Oregon pick up its first home Pac-10 Conference victory, tossing 7 and 2/3 innings of one-run baseball in a 2-1 win over Stanford (4/3)...held the Cardinal to one run on six hits while striking out nine...dealt a career-high 12 strikeouts in a 4-0 loss to Portland (3/20)...also pitched seven innings vs. USC (4/9), holding the Trojans to two runs on four hits while striking out six.

Selected in the 50th round (1,491 overall) by the Minnesota Twins in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

HIGH SCHOOL
A 2008 graduate of Spring Valley High School in Las Vegas, Nevada...played four seasons of baseball for head coach Mike Gomez...was a scholar-athlete and was named to the honor roll for the Grizzlies.
