Twelve Ducks Earn Pac-12 All-Academic Honors

EUGENE, Ore. – Twelve members of the University of Oregon women's soccer team earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

Sophomore Taylor Kuroda and redshirt junior Caitlyn Wong earned first team laurels and junior Michelle Rockey and sophomore Marissa Everett were named to the second team. Honorable mention honors were awarded to seniors Maryn Beutler and Marlo Sweatman, juniors Halla Hinriksdottir, Abby Morrow and Miranda Schulz and sophomores Bayley Bruner, Sofia Chambers and Kyra Fawcett.

Kuroda boasts the highest GPA of the whole first and second teams with 4.08 in business administration. The forward, a native of Honolulu, Hawai'i, appeared in 13 games during the 2016 season and scored the Ducks' goal against the USC Trojans – who just won the NCAA national championship - ending their six-game shut-out streak.

Wong, a biochemistry major, has a standing GPA of 4.02 and is also in the Clark Honors College. This season, the native of Sunnyvale, Calif., earned two Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week laurels and was also named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) All-District team. Wong appeared in 15 games, fired nine shots (three on goal) and fed the assist to junior Mia Costa in the Ducks' 3-0 victory over Stephen F. Austin. Midseason, she had knee surgery and was able to return to the Ducks as a key piece in Oregon's defensive unit.

Rockey, a native of Woodland Hills, Calif. boasts a GPA of 3.90 and is majoring in business administration. The defender played in 19 games this season and started 17 times.

Canyon Lake, Calif. native, Everett, has an undeclared major (leaning towards human physiology) and holds a GPA of 3.90. The midfielder tallied one goal, five assists and had 38 shots in her 20 games this season.

To be eligible for the selection, a student-athlete must hold a minimum of a 3.0 overall grade-point average and have appeared in at least 50 percent of their respecting team's matches.
