Two Ducks Claim Pacific North All-Region Status, Agost Earns Honorable Mention
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon volleyball's Amanda Benson and Lindsey Vander Weide have been named to the AVCA Pacific North All-Region Team while Taylor Agost earned honorable mention honors, the organization announced on Tuesday morning.
Benson earned the all-region selection after a stellar senior season in which she also claimed her first all-Pac-12 honor. The native of Litchfield Park, Ariz. racked up career highs in 2016 with 575 digs and 4.91 digs per set, both in the top five in UO single-season history. Benson finished her Oregon career second all-time with 4.633 career digs per set and 2,146 total digs, just 53 shy of the program record.
Vander Weide adds her first all-region honor to an already impressive resume through two collegiate seasons, having earned her second all-Pac-12 selection this year. The sophomore was a consistent presence on the floor for the Ducks, leading the team in kills per set (3.24), points per set (3.85) and service aces per set (0.32) while hitting .266 and adding 2.71 digs per set. The Turlock, Calif. native also racked up 12 double-doubles and tallied the most kills in the Pac-12 in a three-set match in 2016, tying her career-high with 25 against California (Sept. 23).
Benson and Vander Weide give Oregon its first all-region selections since 2014, and move the program's all-time total to 25. It is the first career all-region honor for both players.
