Women Third, Men Fourth at NCAA West Regional

Oregon women's cross country finished third at the NCAA West Regional in Seattle while the UO men placed fourth, leaving both teams in position to receive at-large bids to the NCAA Championships
SEATTLE - The Oregon women's cross country team finished third at the NCAA West Regional on Saturday while the Men of Oregon placed fourth at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle.
Neither the UO men or women earned an automatic qualifier to next weekend's NCAA Championships, but both are positioned to receive at-large bids to the national meet. In addition to the 18 automatic qualifiers awarded across nine regional meets on Friday, 13 additional at-large bids will be distributed Saturday based on head-to-head results throughout the season.
How it Happened - Women: The Ducks finished third in the women's 6,000-meter race with 92 points, as San Francisco (59) and Stanford (76) nabbed the automatic qualifiers out of the west. The Women of Oregon placed three runners in the top 15, with Katie Rainsberger (below) leading the way in fifth overall in 19:30.9 followed by Lilli Burdon (19:43.3) in ninth and Carmela Cardama Baez (19:52.5) in 13th. Emma Abrahamson (20:27.9) was 32nd, and Jessica Hull (20:28.9) was right behind in 33rd to round out the scoring for the Ducks.
How it Happened - Men: The Men of Oregon placed fourth in their first 10,000-meter race of the season behind a season-best sixth-place showing from Tanner Anderson (29:43.58). Freshman Cooper Teare (29:59.22) was the second Duck across in 23rd overall, and Blake Haney (30:13.09) finished 32nd. Freshman Reed Brown (30:20.24) was 42nd overall, and Austin Tamagno (30:31.97) closed out the scoring for the Ducks in 46th. Portland (63 points) and Washington (65) finished 1-2 to secure the automatic bids.
What it Means: The Men and Women of Oregon are both positioned to receive at-large bids to the NCAA Championships, but will have to wait until the selections are made official tomorrow at 12 p.m. PT.
Notable: Rainsberger has now finished in the top five in all four meets this season, while Burdon has been inside the top 10 in all four races … Redshirt senior Alli Cash made her season debut for the Ducks, finishing 43rd in 20:41.5 … San Francisco's Charlotte Taylor won the women's 6K to lead the Dons to the team win … Portland's Emmanuel Roudolff-Levisse and Jeff Thies finished 1-2 in the men's race to secure the win for Portland.
Up Next: The NCAA Championships are set for next Saturday, Nov. 18, at E.P 'Tom' Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
