Oregon men's tennis head coach added Australia native Joashua Charlton to the 2018-19 roster Thursday morning.
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon men's tennis head coach Nils Schyllander announced the addition of Joshua Charlton to the 2018-19 roster Thursday.
Â
"We are extremely excited to add Josh to next year's squad," said Schyllander. "Josh is a high character guy with extremely high potential. He will be great for the locker room and obviously he will have a great impact for the Ducks on court in both singles and doubles. We are pumped and thrilled to add Josh to the Duck family."
Â
Charlton comes to Eugene from Traralgon, Victoria, Australia, where he is currently ranked 70th in the Australian men's division.
Â
This past year, Charlton won the 18-under Australian doubles championship at the December Showdown in Melbourne. Charlton was also the 3 x 10k Australian money tournament champion.
Â
So far in his juniors career, Charlton has recorded 10 wins against top-150 ITF juniors and is a Grade 1 ITF Qualifier. He also earned a win over the No. 721 ranked player in the world in his opening match at the Traralgon Pro Challenger.
Â
"I chose Oregon because of the world class facilities, coaching staff and the professional culture," said Charlton. "I believe Oregon has a program that will be able to push me to reach my full potential as both a player and a student. I'm so excited to join the Duck family and I can't wait to play my first match as a Duck and compete for the team and such a prestigious university."
