Oregon starts Day 2 of the Kajikawa Classic with another shutout win
TEMPE, Ariz. -- The No. 9 Oregon softball team continued its torrid start to the 2017 season with an 8-0 shutout of San Jose State in Friday's first game at the Kajikawa Classic.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Just like their previous game against Creighton on Thursday night, the Ducks (3-0) utilized strong pitching and methodical hitting to eventually run-rule their opponent. Lauren Lindvall delivered the final blow at the plate with a two-out, line drive to the fence in center field to plate Nikki Udria with the deciding run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Freshman Miranda Elish made the most of her first career start in the circle, scattering three hits over six complete. The right-hander, who walked a pair and struck out three Spartans (1-2), took a no-hitter into the fifth.
Madi Bishop took advantage of her first swings of 2017, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four batted in. Her three-run bomb in the third inning came following a pair of moon shots that she pulled foul.
UP NEXT: Oregon is right back at it vs. Fresno State at 10:45 a.m. PT.
