Ionescu Sweeps Pac-12 Weekly Awards
02/13/17 | Women's Basketball
Sabrina Ionescu is just the second in Pac-12 history to win the league's player of the week and freshman of the week awards at the same time.
Since the Pac-12 started honoring a freshman of the week five years ago, this is just the second time in conference history that a player has swept both awards. Former UCLA guard Nirra Fields is the only other to accomplish the feat.
Ionescu certainly is deserving of the rare sweep. The freshman posted her fourth triple-double of the season on Friday in the Ducks' upset of No. 15 ranked UCLA. The Walnut Creek, Calif., native followed that up with a double-double in Sunday's win against USC as the Ducks swept the LA schools at home for the second time in three seasons under head coach Kelly Graves.
The Ducks, now at 7-7 in conference play, have just four regular season games remaining. The Ducks hit the road this weekend to face Utah and Colorado before hosting California and Stanford next weekend.

• It marks the second time a player has swept the weekly awards in the five-year history of the freshman of the week honor. UCLA's Nirra Fields was the first on Dec. 31, 2012.
• It is Ionescu's first-career player of the week honor and fourth freshman of the week nod. It is also the 45th weekly honor for the Oregon program and league-leading 20th freshman weekly honor all-time.
