MBB Postgame Quotes - Colorado
02/18/17 | Men's Basketball
Dana Altman, Head Coach
On how senior day went…
"That was absolutely great. I felt good for Chris, he played with a lot of energy and focus. Dylan had a great game. I wish we could have gotten Charlie a bucket there at the end, but other than that it was a great game."
On how they got out to the big lead…
"At the beginning of the game, I really didn't like our defensive energy. We were a step late on everything and made some bad rotations that gave them some easy three's. I think we weren't very sharp there to start the game, but once we made that a focus we were able to turn things around."
On being undefeated at home the last two seasons…
"It's very special. To get up to play at home and not lose in two years is great. Also the year before we only lost two at home. They say basketball is a home court sport and we have done a great job of defending our home court."
Dylan Ennis, Graduate Student Guard
On his last game at MKA…
"It was great. I couldn't even predict that we would have a game like that. It was a great game to end here."
On the Ducks' defense in the second half…
"It's coming together. We are focusing on defense, we aren't focusing on who gets the next shot or what play is happening. We focus on getting stops on the defensive end and I think once we put all our focus on that the game is so much easier."
On the crowd...
"I feel like we get that every day. Every time we play they yell and they are there for us. Everyday feels like a senior day because, even if we lose, they still yell and cheer for us. I'm going to miss the Pit Crew and the people cheering for us."
Chris Boucher, Senior Forward
On his last home game...
"It was definitely something I will remember forever. I wasn't expecting a big game like that, you know, a big game like that go our way. It was my last game and it was a good game and everyone's happy about it."
On the atmosphere of the game…
"I feel like we get that every day. Every time we play they yell and they are there for us. Everyday feels like a senior day because even if we lose they still yell and cheer for us. I'm going to miss the pit crew and people cheering for us."
On finishing his career undefeated at MKA...
"I can actually say that I've never lost to a team in Matthew Knight Arena. Doesn't matter what team, I just never lost. It feels good to say that."
Charlie Noeble, Senior Guard
On if he thought he was getting in…
"I thought it was going to be a 40-minute fight, but I told these guys let's try and get some stops so I can get in there, that's the ultimate goal. We definitely picked it up on defense and that's what got me in."
Tad Boyle - Colorado Head Coach
On Oregon's performance...
"They got hot. We knew they were going to be ready to play against us as a result of what happened at Boulder a few weeks ago, and they were ready to play. You get a team like this that's legit on senior night and you let them get going ... we went toe-to-toe with them for about 15 minutes. Our offense went stagnant and theirs just kept rolling the whole 40 minutes; they're a really good team. Part of it had to do with Oregon, they were very good tonight. It wasn't one of our better defensive efforts by a long shot, but they had something to do with that."
On losing momentum after a strong first half...
"Your margin for error when you're playing a team like this in their building goes to almost zero. You cannot turn the ball over, which we did a couple times in that first half, and you cannot take quick threes without attacking the basket. We had three team fouls in the first half and over half our shots came from three. Offensively, we're not going to beat anybody doing that."
On any positive takeaways...
"No. Nothing positive other than that you learn from it. There is a reason this happened. Part of the reason is that Oregon was very, very good today and they are a terrific team. Part of it was Colorado did not rebound, and were inefficient offensively, and didn't guard as well as we are capable of guarding. That's why we lost the game, and there is nothing we can do about it now other than turn the page and get ready for Utah."
On the atmosphere...
"This was by far the best crowd I have seen since I've been in the league and in this building - it's not even close. So when they got it rocking and rolling like they did today, they're as tough as any place in the league, up there with Arizona and Utah."
