Ducks Set to Host UC Santa Barbara, Houston

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon women's tennis team will host two matches at the Student Tennis Center this weekend. On Friday, the Ducks (3-4) will face the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos at noon, and on Sunday, the Houston Cougars and Ducks will play at 9:00 a.m.
"We are ready to get out and compete this weekend," head coach Alison Silverio said. "It has been a productive two weeks of consistent practice. Our focus has been dialed in and we've been approaching everything with attack and positive energy."

The Opponents: UC Santa Barbara last saw action against Fresno State on Feb. 19, but the match was tied 3-3 and suspended due to rain. In doubles play, Fresno State took the point with a 6-4 and 7-5 victory over No. 41 Melissa Baker and Stephanie Yamada, and Natalie Da Silveria and Jaimee Gilbertson, respectively.
In singles, Palina Dubavets (UCSB) defeated Katerina Stloukalova (FS), 6-4, 6-4. Galina Bykova (FS) defeated Da Silveira 7-5, 6-4. Amanda Atanasson (UCSB) defeated Ndindi Ndunda (FS) 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Stephanie Yamada (UCSB) won against Georgia Lawson (FS) 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). Gilbertson and Juliane Triebe did not have a chance to finish it due to rain.
During Houston's last dual match, the Cougars fell 4-1 to the LSU Tigers on Feb. 19. In doubles, Houston nabbed one match with a 6-4 win by Lauren Alter and Sveva Mazzari over Skylar Holloway and Jessica Golovin (LSU). The Tiger pairs of Ryann Foster and Joana Valle Costa, and Jade Lewis and Becca Weissmann defeated Houston's Tsveta Dimitrova and Cristina Rovira (6-4), and Constanden Nicolaou and Ana Glumac (6-3).
Last Time Out: The Ducks last saw action with two matches on the road in Texas against Baylor (2/4/17) and TCU (2/5/17) and dropped both decisions, 4-3 and 4-1, respectively.
Against TCU, the Horned Frogs earned the doubles point with a sweep against the Ducks with Marlou Kluiving and Julia Eshet's match going unfinished against Alexis Pereira and Aleksandra Zenovka. No. 16 Donika Bashota and Olaya Garrido-Rivas defeated Shweta Sangwan and Alyssa Tobita, 6-3. Sed Arantekin and Caroline Wegner took down Nia Rose and Daniela Nasser, 6-0.
In singles No. 75 Arantekin defeated Rose in two sets, 6-2, 7-5. Kluiving earned to lone Ducks' victory in singles with a two-set 6-4, 6-4 takedown of Wegner. With the score at 2-1, TCU, the Ducks showed resilient effort and Sangwan battled and forced extra points, ultimately falling 6-3, 7-5. Garrido-Rivas solidified the TCU victory with a three set win against Nasser, 6-7(5-7), 6-2, 6-1. Tobita, whose match against Zenovka was at 6-4, 3-6, 3-4, went unfinished. Eshet and No. 115 Norris also didn't finish, they were locked at 6-1, 2-6, 3-4.
