Do you have a nickname? Is there a story behind it?
No crazy nickname, but a lot of people call me Shan.
When did you start playing softball?
As a 7-year-old
What is your favorite softball memory?
Beating my high school softball rival after nine innings. One of my long-time friends hit a walk off single to score me for the win!
Did anyone in your family play softball?
My mom played a little bit, but my family was more of a baseball family
Tell us more about your family.
I have one sibling, and older sister (23), Taylor, that played collegiate soccer at Montana before transferring to Texas A&M Commerce. My mother, Dawn and dad, Shannon, have been married 22 years and are both from St. Louis.
Do you have any role models?
David Ortiz
Why did you choose Oregon?
Seeing the success Coach White brought to the program since he has been head coach here was very telling. I enjoy who coach White, Spencer, and Kolaitis are. They are like family to me. Also, what's not to love about Eugene?
Where do you like to hang out in Eugene?
Any frozen yogurt shop!
Any thoughts on what your major will be?
Undecided
What have your first couple of quarters in college been like?
Quite an adjustment! This experience is unlike any other. All in all, it's tough, but it is well worth it.
What is it like being on the team?
Being a part of a really funny, diverse family. Everybody is a sister to me.
Do you have a mentor on the team?
Gwen Svekis
What are you most excited about this year?
The competition
Why did you choose your jersey number?
I originally didn't want No. 9, but ironically, after wearing it all four years in high school, I ended up with the same number for college.
What are some of your other hobbies outside of softball?
Online shopping, binge-watching Netflix series, and hanging out with my best friends Mia and Maggie.
What is a goal you have for your college career?
I hope to leave a positive mark on the program. I hope that I leave a positive, meaningful impression on all of my teammates, coaches, friends and teachers.
What is a goal you have for after graduation?
I look forward to seeing where my softball career goes after college. Playing for Team USA has always been a dream of mine, but if all of that doesn't work out, I hope to travel the world!
Anything else you want people to know about you?
Chinese is my go-to choice for food and Kerry Washington is my favorite actress!
