Oregon faces Iona on Friday (11 a.m. PT, TBS) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Sacramento, Calif.
The Pac-12 regular-season co-champion Oregon men will open the NCAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region on Friday, against 14th-seeded Iona at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif. The game will tip off at 11 a.m. PT, and will be televised by TBS.
The Ducks (29-5) reached the Pac-12 Tournament final before losing Saturday to Arizona, hours after learning that senior forward Chris Boucher was lost for the season with a knee injury. The UO men trailed by as much as 14 in the second half before falling 83-80.
"We've got to bounce back from here — and we've got the group to do it," UO coach Dana Altman said at the Ducks' Selection Sunday watch party. "They're very competitive. I'd sure like to work with them three more weeks, but to do that we've got to think about it one game at a time."
Duck Athletic Fund members and UO men's basketball season-ticket holders can request first- and second-round tickets through Monday at noon by logging into their accounts at GoDucks.com. A link is provided above to purchase seats not in the UO allotment.
Oregon is making its fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance under Altman. The Ducks advanced to the Elite Eight in 2016, after earning the first-ever No. 1 seed in program history.
"This time of year, this never gets old," Altman said. "This is an exciting time. And to be in the top 12 in the country, we're in a good spot."
Iona (22-12) earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's automatic bid for the second straight year after defeating Siena in the MAAC tournament final Saturday, 87-86 in overtime. The Gaels are led by 6-foot-8 forward Jordan Washington, who averages 17.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, both top five in the MAAC. Guard Sam Cassell is the namesake of his father, the longtime NBA standout.
Oregon faces a potential second-round game against Altman's former Creighton program. The Bluejays are the No. 6 seed in the Midwest, and play Rhode Island in the first round.
The top seed in the Midwest is Kansas, and the No. 2 seed is Louisville. The Midwest Regional semifinals and final will be played in Kansas City.
