
Xiong Named to America's Arnold Palmer Cup Team

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Oregon men's golf freshman Norman Xiong has been named to the 2017 Arnold Palmer Cup team representing the United States as announced on Thursday.
The annual Ryder Cup-style tournament pins the top collegiate golfers both from the United States and Europe for the annual tournament held June 9-11 at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
John Fields of Texas will serve as the head coach of the United States Arnold Cup team, assisted by Andrew DiBitetto of North Carolina. Ranking selections to the team include: Xiong (Oregon), Sam Burns (LSU), Chandler Phillips (Texas A&M), Collin Morikawa (California), Jimmy Stranger (Virginia), and Maverick McNealy (Stanford). Committee selections include John Coultas (Florida Southern), Sean Crocker (Southern California), and Nick Hardy (Illinois). Doug Ghim (Texas) was selected by the coaches.
David Inglis of Northwestern and Scottish origin will serve as head coach of the European team, assisted by Alan Murray of Washington - Irish decent. The European team selections include: Hannes Ronneblad (Texas Tech, Sweden), Fredrik Nilehn (Texas Tech, Sweden), Kristoffer Ventura (Oklahoma State, Norway), David Wicks (Jacksonville, England), Harry Ellis (Florida State, England), and Rory Franssen (Missouri, Scotland). Stuart Grehan (Maynooth, Ireland), and Rory Franssen (Missouri, Scotland) are committee selections, while Richard Mansell (Nova Southeatersn, England) was selected by the coaches.
