Ducks Prepped to Take Nationals by Storm

AZUSA, Calif. - The No. 1 seeded Oregon Acrobatics and Tumbling team is set to compete at the 2017 National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association (NCATA) national championships hosted by the Azusa Pacific Cougars at the Felix Center April 27-29.
In hopes of claiming the program's fifth national title, the Ducks will square off with the No. 8 King University Tornado in Thursday's quarterfinals at 2:00 p.m. PT.
"We are so excited that the national tournament is finally here," said head coach Chelsea Shaw. "Our team is confident and prepared both mentally and physically. We know this road won't be easy, but we are ready to fight to bring home the national title back to Oregon."

Friday's semifinals will begin at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. to determine the national championship matchup which will take place on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
Individual event finals will take place on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m. All-Americans and other NCATA awards will be presented following the event finals.

The last time the Ducks competed at the national championships hosted by Azusa, Oregon won their last national championship (fourth consecutive) against the host Cougars 290.825 - 282.600. Baylor has won the last two NCATA titles.
Regular-Season Recap: Oregon opened up the 2016-17 season at home at Matthew Knight Arena, besting Hawaii Pacific 284.98 - 273.18. The Ducks earned their first of five perfect tens this season in the compulsory toss heat.
The following week, Oregon traveled to Hamden, Conn., where the Ducks defeated the Quinnipiac Bobcats 284.265 - 274.945. All-American and reigning NCATA 6-Element tumbling heat champion Taylor Galvin scored the Ducks second perfect ten in her 6-Element tumbling pass.
In historic fashion, the Ducks returned home to Eugene to defeat the rival Baylor Bears 285.025 - 277.900 in the program's 55th all-time win. The victory was the team's first over Baylor since the 2014-15 season, and the first 3-0 start from the same year. En route to scoring a 58.725 in the Tumbling event - the season's best and third highest in program history - Krista Phillips notched a 10.00 in the open tumbling pass - the team's third consecutive meet with a perfect score.
Oregon hosted Fairmont State on March 17 and bested the Falcons 288.425 - 272.270 to keep the undefeated streak alive. At 4-0, the Ducks were the last remaining undefeated team left in the NCATA. The total score of 288.425 is the season's highest and qualifies as the fifth highest in program history.
On the road, the Ducks took down King 283.850 - 272.395 on March 29. With a record of 5-0, the record marked the best start since the 2014 season when Oregon went 6-1 and only fell in the last regular-season meet.
On April 2, the Ducks suffered their only loss of the season to Baylor in Waco, 289.745 - 286.050. Baylor and Oregon's only loss this season came at the hands of one another.
Notching the second highest score of the season, the Ducks sent off their seniors in their last home meet at Matthew Knight Arena with a win over Azusa Pacific, 288.08 - 277.28. Oregon earned their fifth perfect score of the regular season in the toss heat two.
