OREGON IS HEADING TO LUBBOCK, TEXAS, AS THE NO. 12 SEED IN THE LUBBOCK NCAA REGIONAL
EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon women's golf team has qualified for its 10th straight NCAA Regional, earning a spot as the No. 12 seed in the Lubbock Regional, hosted by Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas.
Competition will begin May 8 and run through May 10 for a total of 54 holes of stroke play.
The Ducks will compete with 17 other teams in the regional, one of four around the country, and the top six teams will advance to the NCAA Championships at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill. (May 19-24). Oregon will be joined by fellow Pac-12 schools UCLA (No. 1 seed), Arizona State and Oregon State.
In her eighth season at the helm of the Oregon women's golf program, head coach Ria Scott has guided the Ducks to the NCAA Tournament each season. In total, the Ducks have been selected for regionals 21 times.
The Ducks will look to build off of a tremendous run in the NCAA Tournament last year, when they played their way to the best finish in program history (tied for fifth) on their home course at Eugene Country Club.
Oregon will have some familiarity with The Rawls Course in Lubbock, having played that course in their opening tournament of this 2016-17 season at the Red Raider Invitational in September. The Ducks fared well in Lubbock, placing third out of 15 teams at 26 over. Sophomore Petra Salko finished tied for 10th at 6-over.
