Clark Named a Finalist for Jack Nicklaus Award

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - Senior Wyndham Clark of the University of Oregon men's golf team has been named one of five finalists for the 2017 Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award presented by Barbasol. Clark is joined by Sam Burns (LSU), Patrick Martin (Vanderbilt), Maverick McNealy (Stanford), and Will Zalatoris (Wake Forest) for the prestigious award.
The winner will be announced on June 1 by the award's namesake Jack Nicklaus following the NCAA Championships at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The presentation will take place during the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide.
The five finalists will compete at the Barbasol Shootout Saturday, June 3 at the Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio. The men will be playing for an exemption into the PGA TOUR's Barbasol Championship, which is held July 20-23 in Opelika, Ala., at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Grand National.
Clark, a native of Denver, Colo., has had a storied senior campaign after transferring to the University of Oregon from Oklahoma State. He was named the Pac-12 Golfer of the Year, and has won three tournaments this season to include the conference championship. In addition, Clark has been runner-up four times this season and in 12 tournaments, he placed within the top 10 11 times. In 34 rounds, Clark holds a stroke average of 69.59 and has shot in the 60s 18 rounds.
