Nine Named to Pac-12 All-Academic Teams

Five members of the Oregon track and field team have been named Pac-12 all-academic first-team selections, while four more Ducks earned second-team honors
EUGENE, Ore. – Five members of the Oregon track and field team have been named Pac-12 all-academic first-team selections, while four more Ducks earned second-team honors, the conference announced on Friday.
Cody Danielson, Max Lydum, Chin Ng, Kelly O'Neill and Sam Prakel earned first-team recognition for Oregon, while T.J. Brassil, Travis Neuman, Cullen Prena and Maggie Schmaedick were awarded second-team honors.
Danielson, a senior, finished his collegiate career with a 3.62 GPA while earning his degree in general science. He took second in the Pac-12 Championships in the javelin and qualified for the NCAA Championships for the Ducks.
Lydum earns first-team honors in his first year of eligibility as a redshirt freshman with a 3.91 GPA in English, as does Ng, a redshirt sophomore, with a 3.94 GPA while studying economics. Both Lydum and Ng competed at the Pac-12 Championships for the Ducks.
O'Neill and Prakel, both redshirt juniors, round out the first-team all-academic honorees for Oregon. O'Neill has maintained a 3.90 GPA while pursuing a degree in human physiology and psychology, while Prakel also carries a 3.90 GPA in biochemistry. Prakel was a big contributor for the Ducks outdoors, anchoring two winning relays at the historic Penn Relays and earning male athlete of the meet and Pac-12 male track athlete of the week in the process.
In order to be eligible for a Pac-12 all-academic team, student-athletes must not be a freshman or transfer student, must have at least a 3.0 overall GPA and have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's scheduled meets.
Also earning Pac-12 all-academic honorable mention recognition for the Ducks were Marcus Chambers, Joe Delgado, Tim Gorman, Emma Abrahamson, Frida Berge, Khadejah Jackson, Madeline Middlebrooks, Samantha Nadel and Kylee O'Connor.
