Former Oregon acro athlete Megan Bamford will return to Eugene this season as an assistant coach under her old teammate and first year UO head coach Keenyn Won.
EUGENE, Ore. – After helping the Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team to back-to-back NCATA National Championships in 2011 and 2012, the duo of Keenyn Won and Megan Bamford will reunite once again this season as the first year head coach announced the addition of Bamford to her coaching staff Monday.
Bamford, a three-time individual event national champion at UO, returns to Eugene after four years as a head coach at King University. Bamford took over as head coach during KU's inaugural season in 2014 leading the Tornados to their first ever meet victory shortly after taking the helm.
During her tenure, she posted a 9-23 record leading KU to three NCATA tournament appearances. In 2017 she led two groups to KU's first ever NCATA individual event finals in pyramid heats one and three.
A native of Laguna Hills, Calif. Bamford graduated from UO with a degree in psychology before joining Shorter University as a graduate assistant coach from 2012-13.
"Megan brings a wealth of knowledge from her experience as a student-athlete and head coach for the past four seasons," said Won. "She has a passion for Oregon, our sport, and positively influencing the lives of student-athletes. I am confident that she will contribute immensely to our program for years to come."
