2017-18 Schedule Released; Weekends Dotted with Marquee Opponents
09/19/17 | Men's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. – Matthew Knight Arena will be hosting several marquee weekend Pac-12 men's basketball games this season, as the Ducks look to keep their nation-best 42-game winning streak at Matthew Knight Arena intact.
Nine programs that advanced to the postseason in 2016-17 will try to bring that streak to an end, including Arizona, UCLA, USC, Colorado and Utah from the Pac-12, as well as non-conference opponents like Colorado State, Boise State, Ball State and Texas Southern. Six of those teams, plus Oregon State, are scheduled for weekend engagements in Eugene.
Season-ticket renewals for 2017-18 have passed 90 percent. Combined with new season ticket sales, Oregon has already exceeded the season ticket base from last season, yet good seats still remain available for as low as $155.
Season tickets can be purchased at goducks.com/tickets.
The 2017-18 season gets underway Oct. 30 for the two-time defending Pac-12 champion Ducks with an exhibition game against Northwest Christian.
A busy November slate of games at Matthew Knight Arena includes the regular season opener against Coppin State on Nov. 10, followed by Prairie View A&M (Nov. 13), Alabama State (Nov. 17) and Ball State (Nov. 19). Ball State, 21-13 in 2016-17, won the Mid-American Conference's Western Division and advanced to the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
The Ducks will then play in the highly-anticipated PK80 Invitational around Thanksgiving in Portland. Oregon opens the tournament with Connecticut on Nov. 23, and will play either Michigan State or DePaul the next day. The Championship round of PK80 will be on Nov. 26.
The Ducks will play Boise State, a team that went 20-12 and advanced to the second round of the NIT in 2016-17, for the third straight season. This year's meeting will be Dec. 1 at Matthew Knight Arena. A week later, Oregon will host another strong Mountain West opponent in Colorado State. The Rams posted a 24-12 mark a year ago and advanced to the second round of the NIT.
Texas Southern, a 2017 NCAA Tournament team, comes calling on Dec. 13. The Tigers won both the SWAC regular season and tournament titles before falling to North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament. With a 23-12 record, Texas Southern will be the fourth 20-win team from 2016-17 the Ducks will face at MKA during the non-conference portion of the slate.
The Ducks welcome Portland State to Eugene on Dec. 13.
Oregon then ventures to California for a road game at Fresno State, another 20-win team from a year ago, on Dec. 16 before wrapping up the non-conference schedule with Central Arkansas Dec. 20 in Eugene.
The Ducks open Pac-12 play by hosting Colorado Dec. 29 and Utah Dec. 31. Both of those teams advanced to the NIT a year ago.
Oregon will play the Civil War Jan. 5 in Corvallis before a trip to Arizona to face Arizona State (Jan. 11) and Arizona (Jan. 13).
The Ducks then have a big homestand with USC (Jan. 18), UCLA (Jan, 20) and Oregon State (Jan. 27) to close out the month of January. Both USC and UCLA were NCAA Tournament teams in 2017.
The second half of conference play begins with Oregon's only meetings with California (Feb. 1) and Stanford (Feb. 3). Both of those games will be in the Bay Area. Cal was an NIT team a season ago.
The Ducks host Washington on Feb. 8 and Washington State Feb. 11 before a trip to Los Angeles to face the Trojans (Feb. 15) and Bruins (Feb. 17).
Oregon closes out the home schedule by hosting Arizona State on Feb. 22 and Arizona Feb. 24. The Ducks and Wildcats shared the 2017 Pac-12 regular season title. Arizona was an NCAA Sweet 16 team a year ago.
The regular season ends for the Ducks at Washington State (March 1) and Washington (March 3).
T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will host the Pac-12 Tournament March 7-10.
The Bay Area teams do not come to Oregon this year, while the Ducks skip the Mountain trip.
The 2017-18 television schedule was also announced Tuesday.
All of Oregon's non-conference games except the PK80 Invitational and Fresno State will be shown on Pac-12 Network. The PK80 tournament will be on the ESPN family of networks, while CBS Sports Network will broadcast the Fresno State game.
In Pac-12 play, The Ducks will be on the ESPN family eight times ( both games versus Arizona, UCLA, USC and Washington State) and FS1 five times (both Arizona State games, plus Utah and Washington at home, and the Civil War in Corvallis).
Fox will broadcast the Feb. 3 game at Stanford.
Oregon has four Pac-12 Network appearances in Pac-12 play - home games with Colorado and Oregon State, and road games at California and Washington.
