ENTRY PROCEDURE
Entry into the Oregon Twilight is by invitation only. Teams and individuals interested in competing must request an
invitation by emailing the meet director. Not all requests will be granted an invitation. Teams and individuals granted an
invitation to compete will be given access to enter online at DirectAthletics.com. Entries will not be accepted by telephone,
fax, or email.
COLLEGIATE ENTRY PROCEDURE
TFRRS marks from the 2016 or 2017 seasons will be used. If an athlete does not have a TFRRS mark, coaches may enter a
performance note and must include a link to proof of performance. All marks will be thoroughly researched. Meet
management reserves the right to select which entries will be accepted, in which sections entrants will be placed, and which
events are canceled.
UNATTACHED/OPEN/CLUB ENTRY PROCEDURE
A limited number of unattached, open, and club entries will be accepted to enhance the fields for the meet. Interested
individuals must request an invitation by emailing the meet director PRIOR TO THE CLOSE OF ENTRIES. Please include the
following information: (1) the event(s) for which you are requesting entry, and (2) your proof of performance in those
event(s) from 2016 or 2017. Not all requests will be granted an invitation. Approved athletes will be sent an email with
further online entry instructions.
ENTRY DEADLINE
All entries are due by 5:00pm PST on Monday, May 1st. A list of accepted entries will be sent to coaches by 5:00 p.m. on
Tuesday, May 2nd.
ENTRY FEE STRUCTURE
College Team: $400 per gender (14 athletes minimum)
Individual College Athletes: $25 per athlete accepted, $25 per relay team accepted
Unattached/Open/Club: $5 per athlete accepted
Entry fees will be collected at packet pick-up and will be based on the number of accepted entries, not the number of
athletes that ultimately compete. No refunds will be issued for accepted athletes who do not end up competing. Cash or
checks will be accepted, checks should be made payable to the ‘University of Oregon Athletic Department’ .
PACKET PICKUP
Coaches and athletes may pick up packets outside Gate #8 at the SE entrance to Hayward Field on Friday May 5th from
12:00–5:30pm (see enclosed map). All entry fees must be paid in full before a packet will be issued. We will distribute the
packet to the first coach who arrives at the packet pick-up tent, it will contain the access credentials for the entire
team. Please make arrangements to meet your team at a designated location outside Hayward Field to distribute credentials
if you are planning to arrive at different times.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
The final meet schedule will be revised based upon entries received and adjustments made for the live TV broadcast. The
final schedule will be posted on GoDucks.com on Wednesday May 3rd. Meet management reserves the right to change the
schedule of events (including canceling events) as it deems necessary to achieve a spectator-friendly format.
FIELD SIZES
The schedule for the Oregon Twilight has been developed with the goal of presenting a spectator-friendly meet for the
enthusiastic crowds at Hayward Field. In order to best accomplish this goal, it is necessary for meet management to limit
both the number of teams competing and the number of athletes accepted for each event.
Therefore, we will accept entries so as not to exceed two sections in all running events, and 10 competitors in the field
events. Events are subject to cancelation if we receive an insufficient number of entries or if the quality of competition is
not sufficient. Preference will be given to NCAA Division I institutions. Meet management reserves the right to select which
entries will be accepted, in which sections entrants will be placed, and which events are canceled.
Field event athletes will receive 3 attempts in the throws and horizontal jumps. After the preliminary rounds, the top 8
athletes will advance to the finals and get 3 more attempts.
PRACTICE TIMES & FACILITY ACCESS
Hayward Field will be available for practice on Thursday May 4th from 4:00–7:00 p.m. The discus ring will be available for
practice from 4:00–5:30pm only, and the javelin runway will be available from 5:30–7:00pm only.
Hayward Field will open to competitors on Friday May 5th at 12 p.m. Athletes and coaches must
have a wristband in order to enter the facility. Only athletes will be permitted inside the competition areas, and will be
escorted on and off the track.
No warm-ups will be permitted on Hayward Field at any time. Athletes should use the warm-up track located in the
southwest corner of the complex (see enclosed map).
CHECK-IN PROCEDURE & ATHLETE FLOW
Running Events
Athletes in all running events will follow the protocol outlined below:
1. Athletes may check in at any time, but NO LATER than 30 minutes before the scheduled start.
2. Athletes must report to the ‘Clerk of the Course’ table underneath the West Grandstands no later than 20 minutes
before the scheduled start of the event. Athletes failing to report by this deadline will be scratched.
3. Athletes will be escorted directly from the clerking area to the starting line.
4. At the conclusion of the event, athletes must exit the track through the gate adjacent to the finish line and proceed
to the recovery area. Event winners will do the customary victory lap around Hayward Field, and some athletes
may be interviewed in-stadium and/or escorted to the media tent for post-race interviews.
Field Events
Athletes in all field events will follow the protocol outlined below:
1. Athletes should check in NO LATER than 30 minutes before the scheduled start at the event site.
2. Athletes must walk directly to the field event site by following the path through the West Grandstands and entering
the infield by the finish line. Athletes competing in the hammer should report directly to the event site.
3. Athletes in field events must check-in with the appropriate official at the field event site and not with the Clerks
underneath the West Grandstands.
4. At the conclusion of the field event, athletes must exit the infield through the gate adjacent to the finish line and
proceed to the recovery area. Event winners will do the customary victory lap around Hayward Field, and some
athletes may be interview in-stadium and/or escorted to the media tent for post-event interviews.
IMPLEMENT INSPECTION
Implement inspection will begin on Friday May 5th two hours prior to the first throwing event at the southeast corner of
Hayward Field. All implements must be inspected at least one hour before the start of the event. Athletes may pick
implements up at the conclusion of the event.
SPIKES
Athletes may use only pyramid or Christmas tree spikes that are no larger than 7mm (1/4”) in length. High jump and javelin
may use a 9 mm (3/8”) or less spike. Spikes will be checked and those not meeting the regulations must be replaced by the
athlete. No pin spikes will be allowed on the competition, warm-up or practice areas.
COMPETITOR BIBS
Competitor’s bibs will be worn on the front in all events, except the vertical jumps where athletes may choose to wear the
bib on their back.
ATHLETIC MEDICINE
Athletic trainers will be available in a tent outside the Bowerman Building beginning two hours prior to the first scheduled
event. Requests for use of training modalities must be made in advance to Grant Wilson (gwilson2@uoregon.edu).
TICKETS & ATHLETE SEATING
Tickets may be purchased at GoDucks.com, or at Hayward Field. The ticket window and the spectator gates will open one
hour prior to the first scheduled event. Reserved Seating: $15, General Admission: $11, UO students get in free with their
student ID. Athletes are not permitted to sit in the west grandstand and should sit in sections L and M of the east
grandstand (see enclosed map).
MEDIA & LIVE TV BROADCAST
We anticipate another great crowd and a large group of media at Hayward Field. Events scheduled between 6:00-7:00pm
will be aired live on the Pac-12 Network.
It is customary for all event winners to jog a victory lap at Hayward Field and be available to speak with TV or the media
after their competition. Requests for media and photographer credentials should be directed to Nate Krueger
(nkrueger@uoregon.edu).
Results will be available at GoDucks.com at the conclusion of the meet.
PARKING & ATHLETE DROP-OFF
Parking around Hayward Field is extremely limited, visiting teams and athletes should pay close attention to parking
regulations on the streets surrounding Hayward. Teams are encouraged to drop athletes off on Agate St. at Gate #8 by the
packet pick-up tent (see attached map).
